The Sourcing Manager plays a critical role in developing and implementing sourcing strategies to meet direct and indirect material needs within assigned commodities. Responsible for sourcing components and finished goods globally, while optimizing cost, delivery, quality, and risk. Analyzes legacy product sourcing and engages early in new product development projects to ensure an effective, flexible, and quality supply base. Leads productivity, risk reduction, improvement, and negotiation activities within the supply base for assigned commodities. This is a highly visible matrixed role that requires a strong foundation of sourcing skills and knowledge of sourcing concepts/tools.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with functional teams and peers to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials while optimizing cost, lead-time, and quality.
  • Defining and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
  • Overseeing the Supplier Relationship Management process for critical suppliers, focusing on sustainable improvements in cost, delivery, pay terms, and quality.
  • Identifying new sources and establishing strong supplier relationships to enable business growth.
  • Presenting plans, results, strategy deployment, market trends, and KPI progress periodically.
  • Becoming the subject matter expert for assigned commodities.
  • Leading sourcing projects, negotiations, and contractual agreements for critical suppliers.
  • Managing the competitive bidding process for assigned commodities.
  • Analyzing proposals and negotiating best price, service, and delivery terms.
  • Collaborating with corporate sourcing to implement initiatives.
  • Providing coverage during travel and vacation periods.
  • Documenting and improving sourcing processes and methods.
  • Qualifications to thrive in this role include:
    • BS/BA in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of sourcing experience.
    • Strong data analytics and process improvement skills.
    • Knowledge of sourcing processes and contract negotiations.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Comfort with challenging the status quo and performing in a matrixed organization.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team, and a self-starter attitude.
    • Willingness to travel (~15%).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • APICS ASCM Certification.
    • MBA or Master's degree is a plus.
