Responsibilities: Solutions Design Engineer II are responsible for supporting the growth of our Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation Solution offerings by developing, designing, and winning new business through:
- Designing solutions that deliver financial value to our Customers
- Demonstrating an understanding of our Customer's business
- Providing feasible designs aligned with Customer needs
- Helping the pursuit team with shaping win plans
- Providing sustainable designs aligned with Ryder's capabilities
- Writing and delivering compelling proposals
- Supporting awarded business throughout startup and transition to Operations
Solutions Design Engineer II will support a pursuit from start to finish, actively participating throughout various stages and ensuring a successful transition during startup. Key activities include:
- Specializing in a design discipline
- Using advanced analytical techniques to understand the business
- Executing design processes for logistics networks
- Thinking and acting independently and creatively
- Communicating designs effectively to stakeholders and clients
Essential Functions
- Calculating labor, equipment, and expense requirements based on design assumptions
- Developing process flows, concepts of operations, and value propositions
- Supporting bid submissions by reviewing RFPs and developing hypotheses
- Meeting with customers and bid teams, supporting technical reviews
- Validating and modifying deployed processes during implementation
- Developing engineering tools and methodologies
- Supporting consulting projects with customer solutions
Additional Responsibilities
- Performing other duties as assigned
Skills And Abilities
- Strong data organization and cleansing skills
- Advanced skills in design applications and methodologies
- Familiarity with simulation tools, TMS, ERP, automation, and visibility tools (preferred)
- Ability to influence teams using facts and analytics
- Understanding of complex supply chain solutions
- Excellent communication and relationship skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Access, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of visualization and database programming (intermediate preferred)
- Knowledge of metrics programs and sustainable network design
- Extensive knowledge in Transportation and Warehouse Design, including equipment, automation, and tools like JDA, Llamasoft, Tableau, AutoCAD, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
- 4+ years in Transportation industry (Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, etc.)
- 4+ years in Warehousing/Manufacturing industry
- Expertise in Microsoft Office and visualization tools
- Knowledge of transportation and warehouse design tools and equipment
