The function of a Solutions Architect is to design, present and administer integrated technology solutions architecture, strategies, policies, and standards. They will be responsible for execution of complex projects by studying and understanding clients' requirements, identifying gaps (if any) between clients' requirements and SAP functionalities, and defining solutions to bridge the gap.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops a roadmap of the conceptual design for future changes to the architecture of IT solutions.Coordinates and oversees architecture implementation and modification activities.Collaborates with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure compliance with operational processes and define, design, and deliver technology requirements, enhancements, and solutions that meet the needs of the company, its clients, and the end users.Maintains records to document architecture and technology portfolio as well as revisions to these.Researches, evaluates, and implements new technology and industry trends to optimize operational efficiency, infrastructure flexibility, and operational stability.May provide application programming interfaces (APIs) to business applications.Liaise with clients and business representatives to understand the needs of the business.Liaise with other professionals to design solution architecture for businesses and clients.Ensure compliance to solution architectural design in the implementation of projects.Provide architectural guidance to the project team.Render consulting and technical support services on project implementation to the project team.Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals.Keep accurate record of materials used, expected deliverables, and milestones achieved.Skills/Qualifications:
Computer Literacy: To be a solution architect, you have to be computer savvy and must feel comfortable working on computers for a long time. You must have basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, operating systems, and system security/database management.Education and Certification: You must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in computer science or in an IT-related discipline. This is usually not enough as certification in a particular IT area is also necessary.Communication: The position involves collaboration with clients, reporting to the lead enterprise architect, and leading a team of solution architects. So, good communication skills are paramount in this role.Analytical Thinking: He/she must be an analytical thinker. A solution architect must be able to understand the IT needs of businesses and design programs to cater for such needs. He/she must be able to evaluate the likely effects of such programs on the profitability of the businesses.Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
