Create and provide solutions regarding data storage and database administration
Conduct evaluations of technology standards, tools, products, and solutions, make rational design decisions from business and technical perspectives, and communicate recommendations. Define guidelines and recommendations based on leading industry practices tailored to GEHA's data needs and infrastructure. Maintain responsibility for defining the technical strategy, work closely with all stakeholders to vet technology decisions that support product capabilities now and for the future, and guide it successfully through its execution.

Responsibilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of GEHA strategic business plans.
- Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to systems analysts, IT cloud engineers, and other system engineers.
- Document and develop in-depth knowledge of GEHA existing architecture/infrastructure and technology portfolio.
- Develop, document, communicate, and enforce database technology standard policies.
- Conduct research on emerging database and cloud technologies in support of organizational data requirements and development efforts.
- Make recommendations about database and data storage technology and process adoption.
- Evaluate existing applications and systems, and recommend improvements or modifications.
- Act as technical mentor for members of the IT team, providing input and feedback to others. Review Business Requirements Documentation, Technical Design Documentation, and participate in peer review cycles with technical & non-technical counterparts.
- Assign tasks to the appropriate technical resource within the team; follow up on assigned tasks to ensure adherence to proposals, internal, and delivery milestones.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Services or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Technology Architecture and database management including hybrid and cloud environments.
- Experience in design, implementation, and support of highly distributed systems, including cloud-hosted data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
- Experience with proof-of-concept development, prototyping, and building reference models.
- Proven ability to work independently to coordinate and solve complex technical data transformation issues. Effective communication skills to clarify data requirements and negotiate compromises.
- Effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of current and upcoming technologies. Mentoring, code reviews, and resource support capabilities.
- Works under minimal supervision with independent judgment.
Preferred Technology Skills: Information Systems or Systems Engineering
- 4-5 years in a consulting, solution architect, or systems engineering role involving large-scale architecture solutions, security, high availability, multiple platforms, hardware, network design, monitoring, virtualization, performance, capacity, and information management.
- Experience with Cloud IaaS and SaaS environments.
- Understanding of multi-tier architecture: web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage.
- Proven track record in architecture strategy development.
- Knowledge of Authentication & Authorization technologies.
- Experience with enterprise continuous integration and testing principles.
- 3+ years in Healthcare industry, preferably with Healthcare Payers.
Work-at-home requirements
- Ability to provide a high-speed internet service (Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems).
- Minimum speed of 30x5 Mbps; latency below 80 ms.
- No hotspots, satellite, or wireless internet allowed.
- Dedicated, interruption-free space for handling PHI/HIPAA information.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary range: $119,985 - $169,135 USD. Includes competitive pay, incentive plan, health benefits from day one, 401(k) with company match, well-being programs, PTO, community time, life insurance, disability, and tuition assistance.
