Job Description :

Administrative and professional work managing the planning, administration, and operation of the County Solid Waste Management Division.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

**Additional compensation based on licensure.

Oversees operation of a solid waste landfill and transfer station, contract refuse collection, environmental outreach, and code enforcement programs.

Controls revenues and expenditures for Solid Waste Management enterprise fund. Plans and controls revenue and expenditure budget including operational and capital issues.

Develops strategies for the division and assists subordinate personnel in execution.

Receives and develops status reports. Develops programs and briefs elected official, appointed officials, and others on the programs and oversees implementation.

Meets with and encourages subordinate staff to take part in professional development activities.

Addresses the entire division to develop division tactics and encourage their being carried out effectively.

Develops and implements strategies to ensure the long-term financial and operational viability of division.

Monitors State and Federal regulations regarding solid waste operations and environmental compliance and permitting. Determines impacts of new or modified regulations and develops recommendations to address impacts.

Serves as County representative to various County, State and Federal agencies.

Directly manages some capital projects, develops work scopes, and negotiates contracts.

Additional Duties :

Performs other related work as required.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years' progressively responsible experience within the Solid Waste field required.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Excellent public relations skills and demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships across all County departments, public and regulatory officials.

Prepare and manage division's budget, capital improvement and equipment replacement plans.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.

Department specific trainings per position may be required.
