The Software Tools Engineer is a cross-functional role focused on optimizing software tools to enhance project execution across multiple business areas, including Avionics, Electric Power, and Engines. This position combines technical expertise and business acumen to design, create, and optimize systems that meet customer needs and deliver high-quality solutions. In this role, you will plan and execute departmental operations, support product groups in achieving objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or strategic planning. The role emphasizes improving project execution using the IBM ELM toolchain and its integrations, offering a dynamic environment for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of the business while driving innovation and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong initiative, capable of proactively reaching out to stakeholders and potential customers to identify needs, build relationships, and drive collaboration.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Functional ownership of the ELM tool chain, including working with DT product owners to ensure the tool is operating as expected.
  • Strategy ownership for the US adoption roadmap of the ELM tooling, as well as preliminary work on future steps beyond ELM.
  • Ownership of the tool training platform to ensure the availability of suitable tool training, aligning with project processes and needs.
  • Ownership of new project onboarding, ensuring tooling is configured optimally for need and the project team understands their role in managing their project areas successfully.
  • Ensuring cross-functional collaboration continues between the Engineering PDO team and their DT counterparts.
  • Ownership of the various business plans that will arise as the business requires tooling extensions to be developed.
  • Ability to support user's questions from roadmap level down to execution detail and best practice.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college. A minimum of 3 years of experience with software or systems development for Safety Critical Systems.

Additional Information

This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status. This role will be primarily collaborating with our team in Cheltenham, so candidates that reside in the Eastern time zone are highly desired.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of the IBM tooling, including EWM, DOORS Classic, DOORS Next, ETM. Understanding of Cloud technologies. Understanding of Virtual environments. Understanding of Automation and approaches to its application on NPI projects. Experience working as System or Software engineer on a NPI development program. Ability to communicate complex ideas simply. Ability to run training sessions, preferably with experience of this type of environment. Evidence of a broad business network, and demonstrable understanding of the current business structure. Demonstrable understanding of software configuration management. Demonstrable understanding of requirement management. Demonstrable understanding of test development management.

This position may be eligible for the following flexible work arrangements (FWA): Hybrid work schedule or fully remote work for those residing in the Eastern time zone.

The base pay range for this position is $105,600.00 - $140,700.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan.
