Software Engineering Manager - AI - The Rundown AI : Job Details

The Wearable AI Team at Meta is seeking a Software Engineering Manager - AI to lead the development of next-generation AI experiences on smart devices. As a technical leader, you will play a critical role in shaping core AI technologies that power Meta's Smart Glasses and future devices. Building on the success of our Multimodal AI Assistant on Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, we focus on creating human-like assistants that see, hear, and assist seamlessly.

We aim to accelerate our agentic AI initiatives—systems that can reason, plan, remember, and use tools autonomously—to enhance user experiences and expand the utility of Meta's smart devices.

• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance in developing AI experiences on smart devices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, design, research, and engineering teams to integrate research into production systems.
• System Design: Architect scalable, reliable AI systems and promote adoption across the organization.
• Research & Development: Conduct advanced R&D in GenAI, LLMs, NLU/P/G, focusing on agentic systems involving reasoning, planning, and memory in constrained environments.
• Technical Adaptability: Stay current with AI advancements and adapt tools and frameworks accordingly.
• Team Development: Mentor team members to foster growth and innovation.
• Communication: Clearly convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders, including executives.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years managing teams of research scientists and engineers in AI development.
• Experience in NLP/NLU/NLG, IR, GenAI, RL, Personalization, Agents, Deep Learning.
• 3+ years working with LLM algorithms and pre/post-training.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with deep learning.

• Experience with inference optimization, quantization, sparsity.
• MSc or PhD in relevant fields.
• First author publications at top AI conferences.
• Research and production experience in agentic AI, reinforcement learning, LLM alignment, memory, and personalization.
• Familiarity with frameworks like AutoGen, LangChain, etc.
