Software Engineer (Python) - Motive : Job Details

We are Motive, a website platform for franchise auto dealerships.

We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Engineer with a focus on the backend and Python. This role requires an understanding of writing scalable code, with a particular emphasis on using LLM's to build advanced solutions beyond simple chat bots and LLM wrappers. This role should be particularly exciting to those who want to define best practices and make advanced AI-focused products. This role does not require deep knowledge of machine learning, as it will focus on applying third party API's instead of building machine learning in house.

In this job, you can expect to:

• Work on bleeding-edge AI products enabling our customers to serve millions of consumers every month.
• Research new and improved ways to build AI products.
• Enhance automation across all levels of our platform.
• Work directly with manufacturers and large enterprises on exciting initiatives.
• Have direct and meaningful impact on the product.
• Develop best practices for our Python API's.
• Optimize cost and performance.
• Set up and maintain testing and evaluation of LLM results.
• Work on AI-powered features and integrate them into the user interface.

We are looking for someone who has/is:

• A desire to continuously learn new technologies.
• Deep knowledge of best practices for making Python API's readable, scalable, and extensible.
• A product focused mindset.
• Experience with Python microframeworks, such as Flask or FastAPI.
• 3-5 years of experience building Python applications.
• 1+ years of experience working with React in a production capacity.
• Experience working with LLM's and agent frameworks, such as Langchain.
• Small startup experience (1-20 engineers).
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with great follow-through.
• Proficiency in backend testing methodologies and tools.
• Experience working with generative AI models in a professional capacity.

Compensation: $115,000 to $150,000 in salary.

• This pay scale is inclusive of various prerequisites and levels of proficiency, and will be further narrowed throughout the interview process.
• Your compensation will additionally include meaningful stock option compensation.
• Motive contributes 100% of the cost of employees' health, dental, and vision insurance premiums. For employees' dependents, Motive covers 50% of their insurance premiums.
• Up to 4% match on Roth or Traditional 401k.

Work Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid or Remote)

While Motive is headquartered in Oklahoma City, our engineering team is opening an office in Seattle for hybrid work. Anyone not located in or willing to relocate to the Seattle or Oklahoma City area can work fully remote.
