We are searching for a highly skilled Software Engineer with top-notch programming skills on behalf our client. This is a 1 yr. contact assignment. (W-2) The primary role of this individual will be to manage and organize their battery performance database, enhance the existing formulas and calculations used for sizing utility-scale battery energy storage systems in Excel, and ultimately transition these calculations to a software environment. This software will allow users to input data and automatically calculate the appropriate sizing for battery energy storage systems.

Location: Juno Beach, FL (Full-time in office or hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a robust software solution for sizing utility-scale battery energy storage systems.

• Organize and manage the battery performance database to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

• Improve the existing formulas and mathematical models used in Excel for sizing calculations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

• Transition the existing Excel-based sizing tool to a dedicated software environment.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as battery engineering, construction, estimation, supply chain, data analytics and operations team to gather requirements, develop features and ensure seamless integration of the software.

• Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software to ensure reliability and accuracy of calculations.

• Provide training and support to users on how to input data and utilize the software efficiently.

• Create comprehensive documentation for the software, including user guides and technical manuals.

• Work closely with BESS and Inverter Technology Managers to incorporate the latest technical specifications and performance metrics into the software database and formulations.

• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to continuously update and optimize the database and formulations, ensuring that the calculator becomes more accurate and comprehensive, meeting the requirements of our Power Purchase Agreements for battery project sizing.

Qualifications:

• Battery Energy Storage and Utility experience are plus

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Proven experience in software development, with a focus on designing and building complex applications.

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar.

• Proficiency in using and transitioning formulas from Excel to a software environment.

• Experience with database management and data organization.

• Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and their performance characteristics.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in utility-scale battery energy storage projects.

• Familiarity with energy modeling software and tools.

• Understanding of power systems and grid integration of energy storage.

• Knowledge of web development frameworks and technologies.
