Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for writing, debugging, and testing computer software. He/she is a hands-on platform builder.

The instructor teaches in the discipline area(s) in which he/she has specific training and competence.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer systems, networks and applications theory and practices; tools, materials and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of common learning management systems, such as BANNER and Blackboard.
  • Skilled in the performance of tasks associated with LAN / WAN administration; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Ability to train others in the use of varied equipment; maintain accurate records; train and direct the work of others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork.
Essential Job Functions
  • Designs, implements, supervises, and grades laboratories.
  • Troubleshoots repairs, calibrates, and designs circuits, upgrades, and fabricates electronic test equipment.
  • Trains and guides students to assure proper operation and maintenance of equipment and laboratory; distributes parts to students for use in laboratory exercises.
  • Establishes and maintains computer laboratory procedures; plans and schedules software upgrades; tests, debugs, configures and documents software as required.
  • Installs, administers, and monitors network operating system software.
  • Maintains a fabrication area for assigned classes.
  • Teaches lab components of courses.
  • Advises undergraduate students and trains and directs the work of student assistants.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Two (2) years' experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment.Three (3) years' teaching experience at the collegiate level.

A Master's degree in Computer Sciences/ Information Technology may be considered in lieu of above experience.
