About The Team

Our Cloud Connectivity team builds and maintains the infrastructure that powers Workday's services in the cloud, focusing on secure, reliable, and efficient communication between microservices and data centers. We value automation, continuous improvement, and new cloud-native technologies.

About The Role

This role supports contracts with the U.S. Federal Government, requiring U.S. citizenship due to security requirements. You will develop, deploy, and operate Workday's service mesh infrastructure, working with modern service technologies to ensure seamless communication and traffic management in the cloud. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions for managing Workday's global service mesh.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management using infrastructure-as-code.
  • Create tools and scripts for monitoring health, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with teams to onboard services onto the mesh and provide guidance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to maintain system availability.
  • Resolve incidents related to service mesh and connectivity.
  • Implement changes with minimal risk and high stability.
  • Design observability solutions for logging, metrics, and tracing.
  • Document designs, procedures, and guides.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Continuously improve infrastructure and processes through automation and optimization.
About YouBasic Qualifications
  • 5+ years in software development, proficient in Go, Python, Java, or similar.
  • 5+ years working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 3+ years with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Strong understanding of networking principles.
  • Problem-solving skills with logs, metrics, traces.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of SRE principles, monitoring, incident management.
  • Building and operating scalable, highly available systems.
  • Security best practices for cloud and service mesh.
  • CI/CD and automation tools experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive learner and problem solver.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python).
Pay and Benefits

Base salary ranges: $135,200 - $202,900 (McLean, VA), with additional US locations ranging from $122,400 - $217,200. Role may include bonuses, stock grants, and other benefits. Details provided during hiring.

Work Flexibility

Our Flex Work approach combines in-office and remote work, with at least 50% of time in the office or with clients each quarter, supporting flexible schedules tailored to individual and business needs.
