Job Summary: Research, develop, implement, and train DoD DevSecOps processes to achieve a corporate-wide DevSecOps Maturity Level. Orchestrate, automate, document, and standardize deploying and executing automated builds, merges, and tests in various configurations for complex software applications under development by multiple Research and Development (R&D) and project teams. Maintain deployment of multiple software baselines with custom Virtual Machine (VM) and container configurations, supporting development, testing, and deployment activities. Ensure the DevSecOps environment facilitates designing, implementing, deploying, and executing automated tests, and investigating new DevSecOps and related technologies. Incorporate new technologies and processes into the corporate DevSecOps environment to support project transitions. Collect, process, and present build, network, security, systematic, performance, and other metrics to monitor automation improvements or degradations over time. Migrate legacy DevOps/IA/IT capabilities to new systems without losing project history or documentation. Balance hybrid cloud distribution between private infrastructure and public clouds. Support business development and proposal efforts with DevSecOps expertise. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and transition between programs to provide support or backfill.

Essential Job Functions:

Due to transient staff in R&D projects, CESI promotes processes and tools onto programs. Therefore, documentation, training, evangelism, and technical support are necessary for this position.

  • Perform DevSecOps functions including, but not limited to:
    • Authoring and maintaining automation deployment and monitoring scripts,
    • Developing and maintaining security controls and systems,
    • Managing virtualized assets, creating network configurations, and providing support for servers, communications, and test development.
  • Author and maintain scripts in various languages.
  • Ensure work products are configuration managed.
  • Analyze real-world problems and implement solutions following corporate guidelines, DoD DevSecOps guidance, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain system stability, accessibility, and proper configuration of assigned systems and components.
  • Desired Job Functions:

    • Monitor, maintain, install, and support networked virtual and physical machines, applications, security controls, and peripherals;
    • Provide professional IT, virtual environment, and network support;
    • Assist software developers, integration, and test engineers;
    • Maintain a cybersecurity-compliant lab environment;
    • Diagnose system problems, analyze hardware/software functionality, and resolve issues;
    • Document and present performance and security metrics, and manage cybersecurity information;
    • Use IT ticketing systems for problem documentation;
    • Review and update security management processes and procedures;
    • Support periodic security scanning and mitigation activities.

    Required Skills:

    • Experience implementing DevSecOps, DevOps, or IT/Security automation supporting multiple teams;
    • Knowledge of cloud best practices and environments built with VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, and AWS;
    • Experience with private and hybrid cloud design, operation, and monitoring, including VMware vCenter, ESXi, Kubernetes, GCP, OpenShift, VMware Orchestrator, and AWS;
    • Ability to manage Java enterprise web services;
    • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation and reporting;
    • Configuration management, version control, and backup of scripts and work products;
    • Design and implement systems and automated tests in representative environments;
    • Review and update lab processes, policies, and infrastructure;
    • Audit and report system performance and security logs;
    • Respond professionally to service requests;
    • Prioritize multiple tasks and projects;
    • Lead small projects on new technology research and implementation;
    • Support DevSecOps business development and proposals;
    • Effective communication skills, including reporting and training;
    • Operate and maintain IT equipment safely and competently;
    • Solve technical problems involving integrated software and hardware platforms;

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with Atlassian tools, Jenkins, Puppet, Git;
    • Familiarity with cloud vendor products, tools, and APIs;
    • Design and implement self-service portals for DevSecOps or IT activities;
    • Experience with containerization, Java/C#/.Net development, web services, Agile processes, and relevant certifications;
    • Experience with syslog tools like Graylog or ELK;
    • Knowledge of RMF, DIACAP, NIST, and security best practices;
    • Assist others in obtaining certifications.

    Required Education/Experience: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, with five years of relevant work experience preferred. Certifications are a plus or in progress.
