About the Role:

The Software Architect plays a critical role in shaping the design and structure of scalable, resilient systems that power Priority's fintech products. In this role, you'll lead the architecture and development of micro-services, reusable components, and production systems within your domain. You'll work closely with engineering and product teams to drive architectural decisions that balance performance, maintainability, and business impact. This is a hands-on role with strategic influence - bridging system design and execution - while mentoring teams and elevating engineering standards across projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the enterprise architecture vision and strategy aligned with business goals and Design, build, and maintain micro-services and service-oriented architecture components.
  • Lead the creation of REST API endpoints and event-driven systems for internal and external use.
  • Define reusable libraries and shared logic to support multiple teams and projects.
  • Oversee production deployments, monitoring, and incident troubleshooting within your domain.
  • Set the standard for documentation, code quality, test automation, observability, and production readiness.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architectural blueprints..
  • Serve as the architectural owner for your domain—responsible for solution design, delivery quality, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with peer architects and engineering leaders to ensure alignment across systems and teams.
  • Influence and implement release strategies, escalation workflows, and runbook development.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to drive platform innovation and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within project and sprint teams.
  • Review code and architectural designs, offering actionable feedback to elevate team performance.

Candidate Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years designing and building micro-services in a service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience with Node.js, REST API design, MySQL, and AWS (or comparable cloud platforms) .
  • Demonstrated ability to own production systems—monitoring, debugging, scaling, and optimizing performance.
  • Proficiency in event-driven systems and backend logic design for complex workflows.
  • Deep understanding of systems architecture, data flows, and software lifecycle from build to deployment Strong communicator, able to document decisions and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience setting technical standards within a team or domain.

  • Experience with containerization, observability frameworks, or server-less infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of payment processing or the financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with software architecture documentation and governance models.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation: $98,000 - $157,315

Traditional Physical Requirements
