Cheddar is a leading business and technology news network dedicated to delivering timely, accurate, and engaging content to a global audience. We are seeking a creative, strategic, and data-driven Social Media Manager to lead our social media presence across all major platforms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the digital media landscape, a passion for business and technology news, and a proven track record of building and engaging online communities. You must be able to source, produce, and edit. You will be responsible for developing and executing content that drives brand awareness, audience growth, and engagement. Responsibilities:
- Manage all social media accounts (e.g., X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.), including content creation, scheduling, and community management.
- Curate and create compelling, platform-specific content (including text, images, videos, and infographics) that effectively communicates complex business and tech news stories.
- Help maintain and implement a cohesive social media strategy aligned with Cheddar's editorial and business goals.
- Monitor social media channels for breaking news, trending topics, and audience feedback, and respond in a timely and professional manner.
- Analyze social media data and metrics to measure performance, identify trends, and inform future strategies.
- Collaborate with the editorial, video, and marketing teams to amplify key stories, special reports, and company initiatives. This includes working with Cheddar's sister media companies to co-create and circulate content across multiple publishers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices.
- Develop and manage a content calendar, ensuring a consistent and strategic posting schedule.
- Oversee paid social media campaigns and manage the associated budget as needed.
- Identify and engage with influencers and key opinion leaders in the business and tech sectors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in social media management, preferably within a news organization or a business/tech-related industry.
- Proven ability to grow and engage a social media audience.
- Excellent writing and communication skills with a strong command of grammar and tone.
- Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, etc) and analytics platforms.
- Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.
- Deep understanding of the business and technology sectors and the ability to translate complex topics into engaging social content.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make strategic decisions.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $90,000-100,000 + discretionary bonus; depending on experience
