Description This position creates man-made snow for the enhancement of the natural snow cover or to substitute for natural snow cover in cases of extreme drought. Also the man-made snow allows for prolonged use in high traffic areas Schedule: The snowmakers' work schedule is 4 nights on (12hrs per shift), 3 nights off. This schedule allows for 96 hrs in a pay period (8hrs of overtime per week). This schedule is subject to changes in the weather and the needs of TSV. Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is an at will employer. - Arrives to work on time, dressed, and ready to go to work.
- Insures that snowguns are properly set and ready for start-up.
- Insures that proper operating procedures and company policies are followed.
- Insures that snowguns are operating correctly and producing quality snow and are checked in a timely manner.
- Shovels snow...Lots of snow.
- Makes sure that hoses and guns are properly drained when shut down.
- Lifts up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge: • Basic understanding of the winter workplace and alpine environment • Possess a work background that includes outdoor activities • Possess a basic mechanical aptitude • Demonstrates the ability to do heavy, physical labor • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Work Environment: Snowmakers work outdoors day or night. It may be dark, snowing, very cold (below 0 degrees), windy. Snowmaking is a loud job with lots of big machines making lots of noise. Taos Ski Valley provides hearing protection and requires snowmakers to wear this at all times when around noisy equipment. Snowmakers work long shifts (12+ hours) 4 days+ a week. Snow makers may get wet (very wet) in the scope of their job functions. Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions.
