Reports to: Dining Hall Manager Schedule/travel: Full-time academic year position. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 2-10:30pm (includes a ½ hour unpaid meal period), while school is in session. Additional hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to the Department and Kent School needs. FLSA: Non-Exempt Classification: Staff Position Summary: The Snack Bar / Pop-up station attendant will operate the snack bar during PM operation, and a Pop-up station within our cafeteria. This position is responsible for preparing and serving made-to-order (and themed at the pop-up station) meals, engaging with customers, and ensuring high quality food presentation and cleanliness. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Set up and break down the pop-up station daily, ensuring equipment and ingredients are properly stocked and stored.
- Prepare and cook a variety of made-to-order or specialty dishes according to the day's menu or theme.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards during food preparation and service.
- Guide students with tasks related to DH jobs
- Monitor consumption to recognize popular items, adjust production as necessary.
- Maintain the station refrigerator and storage areas.
- Ensure all items are labeled for allergens and identification.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, according to federal, state and local sanitation requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other food service staff to support cafeteria operations.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications: A combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in a busy cafeteria style environment. Servsafe certification is required (will be provided if needed) The ideal candidate will:
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working with various audiences (Faculty, Staff, and Students)
- Possess the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively.
- Works well under pressure.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability and have a calm demeanor.
- Show flexibility and adaptability; willingness to help team members if needed.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Requires employees to be on their feet for extended periods, and climb stairs.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and manual dexterity.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke free campus.
