SkillBridge Aircraft Maintenance Technician - ANCHORAGE, AK
MUST BE ACTIVE-DUTY U.S. MILITARY TO QUALIFY
Program Overview
Global Medical Response (GMR) is proud to be an authorized provider of the DOD SkillBridge program, offering U.S. Military Service Members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience in the medical response industry through training, internships, and on-the-job (OJT) experience.
Under the SkillBridge program, GMR hosts active-duty U.S. Military members for skilled employment training during the final six months of their active-duty obligated service. The program duration is 90 days. During this period, service members retain their military pay and benefits and will not be compensated by GMR.
Qualifications for Participation
- Current Active-Duty Service Member
- Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications
- Available to participate for 90 days
- Obtain signed approval from your unit commander (04 or above) and agree that participation can be terminated if mission requirements dictate
Benefits During Program
- 24-hour base housing at select locations (for Field Mechanics)
Post-Program Opportunities
While completion of SkillBridge does not guarantee future employment, successful participants may be considered for roles with GMR/Guardian Flight with benefits such as:
- Starting salary of $28.00 - $55.00 depending on experience, plus stipends
- $10,000 sign-on bonus
- 24-hour base housing at select locations
Job Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance including mechanical inspections, repairs, and provide status updates
- Manage inventory, update logs, and document expenditures
- Document service paperwork and FAA information, adhere to policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Coordinate efforts between departments and vendors
- Collaborate professionally with team members and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant hands-on experience
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or ability to obtain within a year
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
- Experience with aircraft maintenance systems and records
- Experience under CFR Parts 91, 135, and 145 preferred
- Knowledge of Air Ambulance operations and avionics troubleshooting preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on scaffolding or ladders safely
- Ability to stand, kneel, and work in awkward positions
- Lift and move objects weighing 10-50 pounds, up to 150 pounds with assistance
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for inspection and repairs
- Compliance with FAA drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to input data and coordinate multiple tasks
