Overview

Job Summary: Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital's mission, vision and values. Performs documentation in the EHR, gathers information for the patient's visit, and partners with the physician to deliver efficient patient care. Carries out clerical duties for the physician, assists with case management and prior authorizations.

The sitter in Behavior Medicine is responsible for assisting in direct patient care according to physician orders, under the supervision of the registered nurse. The sitter cooperates and communicates with all health team members to maintain high-quality patient care.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Performs basic patient care with minimal supervision within established policies.
  • Maintains appropriate level of observation for the assigned patient.
  • Communicates and interacts with the assigned patient at a 1:1 level.
  • Promptly reports patient changes, problems, complaints, or requests to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains clear and concise documentation within the standard time frame.
  • Accurately follows directions of licensed personnel with minimal questions.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures, demonstrating practices that ensure a safe environment for the patient, co-workers, and self.
    • QualificationsMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
    • Uses common sense and specific medical skills to care for the sick.
    • Uses eyes, ears, hands, and fingers skillfully.
    • Acts quickly in emergencies, rendering appropriate life-saving measures.
    • Communicates effectively with people.
    • Follows and/or gives precise instructions.
    • Records and interprets information accurately.
    • CPR certification required.

    Education: High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience.

    Experience: Healthcare experience is desirable.
