Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Site Supervisor oversees daily operations to ensure compliance with Tribal, State, and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining accurate records, and fostering a supportive learning environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This role collaborates closely with the Early Childhood Director to implement program goals, support staff development, and engage effectively with families and community stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership in early childhood education and a commitment to delivering high-quality services within a supportive, inclusive environment.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise daily operations of the Early Head Start Center to ensure compliance with Tribal, State, and Federal regulations, including Head Start Performance standards.
  • Establish and maintain a supportive and appropriate learning environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Serve as a mentor to teachers, overseeing the implementation of individualized development plans for infants and toddlers, and lesson plans for preschoolers.
  • Assist the Early Childhood Director in the operation of Four Winds Early Head Start, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Support the Early Childhood Director in staff development and training initiatives.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring, workload management, assignment delegation, training, performance monitoring, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Ensure the center provides an educational, caring, and safe environment for children and parents.
  • Promote respectful, sensitive, and proactive relationships, communication, and problem-solving techniques among staff, families, and the administrative team.
  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, enrollment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to ensure program quality and compliance.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Engage actively with families and community stakeholders to foster positive relationships and address concerns.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities and resources effectively.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education to continuously improve program delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of early childhood education leadership, including mentoring and coaching staff effectively.
  • Organizational skills to manage tasks, details, and prioritize responsibilities efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse audiences including families and professionals.
  • Ability to create inclusive learning environments that support growth for children and staff.
  • Skill in mentoring and coaching staff to achieve program goals and professional development objectives.
  • Understanding of Tribal, State, and Federal regulations relevant to early childhood education and childcare.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and evaluations to uphold program quality and compliance.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and resources efficiently to support program operations.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Capability to make effective decisions under pressure and exercise sound judgment in various situations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Certificate of Mastery of Child Development (CoM) or Child Development Associate (CDA) required; preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory role within an early childhood education setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing staff and program operations in early childhood education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time to oversee daily operations and interact with children, families, and staff.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds occasionally, such as supplies or equipment necessary for center operations.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to observe and assess children's activities and to communicate effectively in a busy environment.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to handle paperwork, operate office equipment, and assist with classroom activities as needed.
  • Stamina and resilience to manage and respond to the physical demands and occasionally stressful situations inherent in childcare supervision.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Successful completion of applicable tribal drug test.
  • Successful completion of applicable tribal background check.
  • Must pass background investigation for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
