Company: Our client is a batch manufacturer of specialty chemicals for the pharmaceutical and life sciences market.

Summary

The Site Director will oversee and drive the strategic plan for the plant's daily operations, including production and manufacturing processes. This role involves leadership, strategy development, metrics management, and implementing key initiatives to optimize plant performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing processes and leading a team in a chemical plant setting. This is a great opportunity to join a stable, reputable company with strong mentors providing guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Lead daily operations of the chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategies for plant optimization, including productivity, quality, and cost management.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Process Management: Oversee batch manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor the plant's key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Budget Management: Manage plant budgets, including capital expenditures, operating costs, and resource allocation.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure the plant meets all regulatory requirements related to safety, health, and environmental standards.

Required Qualifications

• Educational Background: BS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry. Advanced degrees preferred (MS, PhD, or MBA).
• Experience: 10+ years of plant manufacturing experience, particularly in the chemical or specialty chemicals industry. Proven leadership experience within a chemical plant or similar manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of batch manufacturing processes and their unique challenges.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of chemical engineering principles and plant operations, including deep knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Proficiency in using plant management software and tools.
• Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with life sciences or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Previous involvement in successful plant expansions or major process improvements.
• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations specific to the chemical manufacturing industry.
