Description

One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. In this position, you will serve as the site's designated first aid provider in the warehouse, coordinating and implementing the Amazon Global Program. The Site WHS Manager will be responsible for partnering with an Operations Team at the site level to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations. This individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates. The Site WHS Manager must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and WHS data analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of WHS professionals, creating and executing leadership development plans.
  • Communicate team expectations, provide feedback, and ensure core competencies are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all Amazon WHS Policies and relevant regulations.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce ergonomic and conditional risks to promote safety.
  • Establish relationships with site and regional leadership.
  • Monitor site performance against EHS policies, identify deficiencies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze WHS metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
  • Conduct regular WHS audits, identify non-compliance, and implement solutions.
  • Audit recordkeeping and WHS information systems for compliance.
  • Ensure effective WHS training for leadership and associates.
  • Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Obtain First Aid, CPR, AED certification within 3 weeks if not already certified.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in people and performance management.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with diverse employee types at large sites.
  • Master's degree.
  • Certified Safety Professional or similar certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, including interfacing with site leaders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
