Posting Details Position Information Job Title SIM Operations Specialist Department Undergraduate Programs, College of Nursing - 35200 Pay Grade 7 Job Category Administrative Job Summary The ETSU College of Nursing invites applications to fill two (2) full-time, permanent Operation Specialist positions for the Undergraduate Programs Simulation Lab. The Simulations Operations Specialist supports the daily operations of the Simulation Center, facilitating high-quality experiential learning activities for medical and nursing students. This role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting simulation equipment, coordinating technical and administrative tasks and collaborating with faculty and staff on scenario development. These positions require an on-campus presence Monday - Friday. Some weekends and evenings may be required.The value of employment at ETSU goes far beyond salary.   • In-depth knowledge of simulation technologies, including: high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, virtual reality systems, and related software.
  • Understanding of medical and nursing education principles, clinical procedures, and healthcare environments.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot simulation equipment and audiovisual systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing support and feedback.
  • Ability to train faculty and staff in the use of simulation equipment and methodologies.
  • Skills in developing and implementing simulation scenarios and educational materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical issues and improve simulation experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent service to faculty, staff and students.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and educational needs.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of simulation operations.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job across various settings in the classroom, simulation, clinical, and/or community as required and/or needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position themselves and balance. The employee must occasionally move (including lift, carry, push, and pull) up to 100 pounds or more. The employee must be able to perceive and respond to sounds and alarms; communicate effectively with others; be able to observe and monitor situations and details at close range in full and dimmed light. The employee may be required to move and/or stay in a stationary position in various settings for up to 12 hours at a time in addition to preparing and closing a clinical shift. Rapid mobility may also be required on occasion. Physical expectations of an assigned clinical facility may vary and be subject to change. Stress levels may be high due to frequently dealing with numerous students, patients, family members, and other healthcare providers. This position demands concentration and the ability to work in emotionally charged situations. Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in nursing or a related field (healthcare, education, engineering, bioengineering, information technology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (healthcare, education, engineering, bioengineering, information technology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification.
  • Experience in a clinical or educational setting, preferably nursing or medical education.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and simulation software.
