Role OverviewThe Silviculture Manager is responsible for implementing advanced silviculture treatments that optimize productivity, efficiency, and financial returns while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our resources. This role involves informed decision-making to shape both immediate and future outcomes, aligning with sustainable forest management principles. The manager will also collaborate closely with contractors and stakeholders to advance our mission of enhancing forest productivity and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Silviculture Planning and Implementation: Advance market-driven precision forestry principles through silvicultural investment and capital allocation. Coordinate and implement site-specific prescriptions, treatments, and activities. Develop planned activities to meet corporate goals and maximize financial returns.
  • Operational Silviculture Management: Drive operational excellence through process optimization, continuous improvement, and productivity enhancements. Monitor activities to ensure compliance with contracts, regulations, SFI standards, and environmental laws. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to protect timber and land assets.
  • Financial Management: Support budget and forecast processes, including capital allocation and investment strategies. Monitor costs and report variances quarterly.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Update silviculture activities in GIS databases. Use decision tools for financial evaluation of treatments.
  • Research and Continuous Improvement: Support operational trials for ongoing improvements.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain relationships with landowners, research cooperatives, and government agencies. Collaborate on genetic and seedling resource deployment.
  • Safety and Sustainability: Promote Rayonier's safety culture and ensure strategies align with sustainability commitments, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in forestry or related field or equivalent experience.
    • 3-5 years' experience in land management, especially silviculture operations.
    • Strong understanding of silviculture, GIS, data analysis, SFI standards, BMPs, and environmental regulations.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

    Physical RequirementsExtensive physical activity including hiking, operating machinery, and working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.

    Pay & BenefitsSalary ranges from $68,900 to $125,500, with eligibility for bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, flexible schedules, employee development programs, and more. The role is safety-sensitive and subject to drug testing.
