About the opportunity

The Services Technical Consultant is required to build new and/or edit existing export maps to meet vendor and client requirements using Sterling B2B and/or XML. He or she will collaborate with Implementation project teams. Duties of the position include strong communication, analytical, technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills to achieve and deliver top-notch vendor and/or client-focused exports across a range of modules such as Benefits, Payroll, WFM (HR), among others.

What you'll get to do

  • Provide services to internal and external stakeholders (vendors/customers).
  • Maintain a level of expertise on the tools, with increased focus on the Sterling B2B related tools, used daily to complete the export/integration mapping job.
  • Good communication skills to achieve excellent stakeholder and customer service.
  • Conduct meetings with internal and/or external stakeholders (e.g., vendors/customers) to review expectations of solutions deliveries and create written plans with milestones/deliverables.
  • Check that effort/schedule estimates for mapping are realistic and committed targets are met.
  • Interpret mapping requirements of varying complexity to deliver accurate mapping solutions.
  • Review mapping codes/configurations and work on root cause analysis where needed. Be able to log defects/enhancements towards Product Development by following the appropriate process in place.
  • Strictly abide by the methodology in place and ensure that unit/system testing is being done.
  • Demonstrate creativity and analytical ability to solve problems in a variety of customer situations, roles, and environments.
  • Work towards becoming a “go-to” resource for both internal and external users to help across functional and technical areas related to exports and mapping.

Contribute to internal Sterling mapping initiatives and focus on continuing education/learning.

  • Identify successes, challenges, red flags and come forward with suggested ways to improve the process.
  • Drive and/or contribute to initiatives for mapping process improvement resulting in improved quality and efficiency gain.
  • Participate in recurring education or training sessions related to Sterling mapping and exports process/methodologies.
  • Keep up to date with the latest mapping practices being rolled out to ensure optimization of Sterling maps which will eventually lead to map stability and lesser risk of errors when running in production.
  • Contribute to building the collective wisdom by sharing lessons learned, best practices, and delivering training sessions related to Sterling mapping.

Skills and experience we value

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in IT or any IT-related field.
  • Exposure to basic programming logic and software development life cycle at the tertiary level.
  • Ability to do scripting/customize existing solutions to meet client requirements (no software development/coding from scratch is involved).
  • Demonstrate customer relationship acumen as there will be situations where mappers would need to engage directly with vendors and customers.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation while demonstrating ability in translating vendors/customers' business requirements into workable business solutions.
  • Show ability to engage with multiple projects & customers while exhibiting good time management skills and managing priorities.
  • Possess good organization, communication (verbal and written), and collaboration skills; should be able to communicate with stakeholders and/or customers/vendors across the globe.
  • Exhibiting consultancy skillset and thought process is an advantage.
  • Be able to work autonomously with minimal oversight and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

  • IBM Sterling B2B Integrator – Graphical mapping tools with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and XML standards.
  • IBM Sterling File Gateway – Point-and-click configuration providing managed file transfer (MFT) capabilities to transfer export files from one point to another in a secured way.
  • Knowledge of XML/XSLT is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel manipulation, is an advantage.
