The Service Center Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimizing all aspects of final mile delivery operations at the JFK Service Center. This role ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations while maintaining compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and client requirements. The Service Center Manager will drive performance through leadership, process improvement, and a strong focus on cost control, service quality, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the JFK final mile delivery service center, including inbound/outbound shipments, route planning, dispatch, and driver scheduling.
  • Monitor KPIs related to on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, cost per stop, and productivity.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service.

Team Management

  • Lead, train, and develop a team of supervisors, drivers, dispatchers, and support staff.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and support career development.

Customer & Client Focus

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, clients, and vendors within the JFK area.
  • Resolve escalations promptly and professionally, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Partner with sales and account management teams to ensure operational execution aligns with client expectations.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, TSA, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of drivers, vehicles, and facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate reporting for all service center activities including accident/incident investigations.

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  • Manage service center budget, including labor, equipment, and vendor costs.
  • Forecast staffing and resource needs based on seasonal demand and client requirements.
  • Provide input on regional operational strategies and collaborate with other service center managers to align best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of operations management experience in final mile delivery, parcel, or freight logistics.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience supervising both drivers and office staff.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation safety compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with routing, dispatch, and transportation management systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including weekends during peak periods.
