Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire 4- Systems Engineering Manager 2 to serve a leadership role on the Command & Launch (C&L) Team of the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program. These positions will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.What You'll Get To DoThe selected candidate will be responsible for a Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT (80% technical scope not a part of the requisition).The successful candidate will be experienced in systems engineering with one or more of the following specific skills: Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo), Requirements Management (DOORS), Verification Planning, and Interface definition and planning.Essential Functions Include

  • Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
  • Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
  • Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.You'll Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 6+ years of related technical experience
  • At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
  • Existing technical scope of work within the Command & Control, SE&I, or Infrastructure IPTs of the Sentinel Command and Launch Segment.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice To Have
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • General understanding of NG Engineering Processes
  • At the time of application a current and within scope Sentinel Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines (SE, SW, HW, etc.)
  • Experience with ICBMs, Ground Integration, and Command and Control products
  • Prior experience managing an engineering team
Salary Range: $156,500.00 - $234,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
