Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Wetland Specialist, you'll bring valuable expertise and a problem- solving mentality to a number of different projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Perform wetland delineations in compliance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and relevant Regional Supplements, with emphasis on the Eastern Mountains and Piedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain (AGCP) regions.
- Conduct forest stand delineations and urban tree evaluations.
- Carry out environmental assessments within the Chesapeake Bay watershed and research threatened and endangered species.
- Prepare technical reports and mapping deliverables using CAD software, and contribute to the development of project proposals.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, maintaining alignment with defined scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Liaise with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies throughout all phases of the project.
- Mentor and provide hands-on support to junior staff, fostering skill development and team growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting and project management.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Solid understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes at the local, state, and federal levels within Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia, particularly as they relate to land development.
- Skilled in field methodologies, including wetland delineation, vegetation identification, soil sampling, and surveys for threatened and endangered species.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Willing to perform a combination of office and field duties year-round and open to regional travel.
- Possesses a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
