Job Title: Senior Virtual Systems Engineer
The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is seeking a permanent, certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) for the role of Senior Virtual Systems Engineer. This position involves supporting the agency's IT infrastructure, implementing new technologies, and ensuring reliable and secure application and service delivery.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing technical reports, design documentation, and run books.Assisting with security patches, upgrades, and change management operations.Managing, upgrading, and monitoring infrastructure and applications on over 300 Windows and Linux servers.Working nights and weekends as needed.Possessing a valid New York driver's license.Qualifications:
- VCP certification in VMware vSphere 6,x, 7,x, and 8.x.
- Professional/vendor certification(s) in LAN administration.
- Educational and experience requirements as specified, including a bachelor's degree with relevant experience or equivalent.
- Background checks and fingerprinting are required upon selection.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Windows Server 2019 administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, security, scripting, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of Linux security, scripting, and server management.
- Experience managing VMware, Citrix VDI, and backup solutions like Veeam.
- Knowledge of converged infrastructure, storage systems, and network security devices.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, Cisco CCNA, Linux, and cloud certifications are a plus.
