Senior Virtual Systems Engineer - New York City Department of Investigation : Job Details

The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is seeking a permanent, certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) for the role of Senior Virtual Systems Engineer. This position involves supporting the agency's IT infrastructure, implementing new technologies, and ensuring reliable and secure application and service delivery.

Responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

• VCP certification in VMware vSphere 6,x, 7,x, and 8.x.
• Professional/vendor certification(s) in LAN administration.
• Educational and experience requirements as specified, including a bachelor's degree with relevant experience or equivalent.
• Background checks and fingerprinting are required upon selection.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Windows Server 2019 administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, security, scripting, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Linux security, scripting, and server management.
• Experience managing VMware, Citrix VDI, and backup solutions like Veeam.
• Knowledge of converged infrastructure, storage systems, and network security devices.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and team collaboration skills.
• Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, Cisco CCNA, Linux, and cloud certifications are a plus.
