Senior Trade Compliance Specialist
Opportunity
Parsons is seeking a senior trade compliance specialist to join its team of innovators dedicated to delivering a positive and engaging employee experience. Parsons is routinely recognized as a top employer. In this role, you will support the company's trade compliance program by ensuring adherence to regulations, assessing risks, providing expert guidance on complex trade situations, managing projects and processes, and developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures.
The position is remote/virtual, with a preference for candidates in the Eastern US region.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build strategic relationships across business units including business and product development, project management, and supply chain to ensure compliance with foreign and domestic trade regulations.
- Provide expert guidance on foreign and domestic trade compliance, including sanctions and free trade agreements.
- Participate in investigations involving suspected trade compliance violations.
- Ensure all products are trade compliant in every stage: concept, development, access, labeling, marketing, sales, exports, etc.
- Assist with vetting business partners, reviewing documents, and supporting trade compliance activities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with U.S. government entities overseeing trade compliance.
- Determine jurisdiction and classification by reviewing various documents to ensure compliant use and dissemination of export-controlled data.
- Manage Restricted Party Screening, licensing, travel assessments, and jurisdiction/classification activities, including making in-house determinations and submitting requests for CJs and CCATS.
- Develop and facilitate training on trade compliance matters.
- Mentor and lead team members when appropriate.
- Support travel compliance efforts, including Visa Attestations.
- Assist with M&A activities related to trade compliance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records, report findings to leadership, and contribute to strategy development for trade compliance.
- Monitor regulations, pending legislation, and industry trends affecting trade compliance.
- Perform other related responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in International Business or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in U.S. trade compliance, preferably in defense and technology industries.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. export control laws, regulations, and trade compliance requirements.
- Experience with jurisdiction and classification determinations, especially for military and cyber-related items/services.
- Experience interacting with government agencies such as DECCS, SNAP-R, ACE/AES.
Desired Skills
- Master's Degree in International Trade or related field.
- Experience with US DoD contracting, defense contractors, and Foreign Military Sales programs.
- Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, DEARS regulations.
- Experience with trade compliance tools and systems.
- Knowledge of import/export operations and international trade regulations.
- Leadership, project management, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with global teams and in cross-functional environments.
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
