Sr. Test Engineer

This position supports electrified vehicle power electronic products for a Tier 1 automotive supplier.

Role Summary + Essential Responsibilities:

  • technical discussions between customer in North America and project team in Asia.
  • compliance with customer technical and organizational requirements. This includes sharing, uploading and maintaining information in customer s supplier warranty systems.
  • and support problem-solving activities in general. Display good, organized and methodical problem solving capabilities and be able to lead this activity across different locations globally.
  • support in customer plants, domestic and international, to resolve quality or delivery related issues. Support containment and corrective actions as required and keep and maintain clear records of such events.
  • issues and resolutions clearly and effectively to the local Delta team, the Delta team in Asia and the customer. Support and sometimes lead telephone conferences between all parties to resolve issues.
  • and track all customer RMA s and respond to the issues in timely manner.
  • Coordinate and perform product sorting/re-work activities related to quality spills for assigned programs.
  • Initiate 8D report, review the final version and support 8D meetings with global team and customer.
  • Setup and conduct tests as well as maintain test equipment in the lab for power electronic module failure analysis.
  • Maintain and modify test stand control software as needed.

Requirements: Education/Qualification/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • good overall technical background with focus on electrical engineering, but also some basic mechanical and software engineering
  • minimum 2 years experience with design or applications engineering experience with power electronic products. Knowledge of engineering design, instrumentation and analysis tools such as CANalyzer, digital oscilloscopes, NI DAQ/Veristand, electronic load/source, lab equipment, etc.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written), good organization skills. Good familiarity with standard MS Office programs including SharePoint, effective presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to support customers on-site in the general Detroit area is expected (once a week). Occasional long distance trips including international travel to customer plants within North America may be required (once/twice a year).
