Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Tax Manager to manage the corporate income tax function for our U.S. operations & assist with the partnership tax function. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local corporate tax compliance, as well as strong experience in tax provision (ASC 740), planning, and audit defense. This is a leadership role with cross-functional exposure, requiring technical strength and excellent business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provision processes in compliance with ASC 740, including deferred tax assets/liabilities and uncertain tax positions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tax disclosures for financial statements
  • Handle the preparation of quarterly corporate estimated tax calculations and payments
  • Assist with the partnership tax function including partnership tax returns, quarterly partnership estimated taxable income calculations & partner distribution process.
  • Oversee tax notices and audits as well as manage relationships with federal and state tax authorities Identify, evaluate, and document tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving tax legislation and regulations, providing guidance on their potential impact.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and external advisors on transactions, restructurings, and M&A due diligence.
  • Ensure SOX compliance and maintain appropriate internal controls related to tax processes.
  • Mentor and develop junior tax staff, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or JD/LLM in Taxation required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of relevant experience, ideally in a combination of Big Four/public accounting and in-house corporate tax departments.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. corporate tax law, ASC 740, and state/local tax rules; experience with partnership taxation, a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including drafting technical memos.
  • Proficiency with tax software such as OneSource, CCH, or similar.

Where You'll Be

This is a hybrid role based in our New York or Miami offices, with a requirement to be in the office 4 days a week. Our working hours align with the Eastern time zone to facilitate collaboration.

Pay Information

This position is exempt . The pay range for this position is $147,000 - $210,000 USD per year. We are required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Corient seeks to make reasonable accommodations that enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties when possible.
  • This position may require the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Corient hires U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Corient will require proof of work authorization.
  • Corient participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. If E-Verify cannot confirm that you are authorized to work, this employer is required to give you written instructions and an opportunity to contact Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or Social Security Administration (SSA) so you can begin to resolve the issue before the employer can take any action against you, including terminating your employment.
