About The Role

Seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux OS Automation Engineer for our SysEng HAVOCK team. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing our bare-metal systems, from POST to Kubernetes cluster integration. Responsibilities include maintaining custom Linux kernels, OS images, virtualization stacks, and container runtimes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and high-performance software solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain automated tools for building, testing, and releasing hardware-specific artifacts, including custom Linux kernels, OS images, and cloud-init modules.
  • Define release roadmaps aligned with organizational needs.
  • Use Kubernetes to automate OS image testing and cloud-init configuration validation.
  • Document supported OS images and configurations.
  • Communicate artifact releases effectively within the organization.
  • Automate packaging of drivers, microcode, and components with out-of-tree patches.
  • Serve as a primary contact for boot-time issues and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate on Linux and OS requirements, specifications, and architecture.
  • Contribute to code quality improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6+ years experience managing large fleets of Linux systems.
  • Proficiency in Golang, Bash, and Python.
  • Experience with developing cloud-init modules, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/Gitlab), Linux kernel building, Docker packaging, Debian package management, Kubernetes deployment, semantic versioning, and testing frameworks.
  • Strong collaboration skills and attention to documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting production services in an on-call rotation.
Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with amd64 and arm64 architectures, PKI, various boot mechanisms, Ansible/AWX, Packer, and Debian packaging (.deb).

Compensation ranges from $160,000 to $210,000, based on experience, skills, and location.
