Job Title: SENIOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR FLSA: EXEMPT Full-time, On-Site & Remote (hybrid) Department: IT Pay Grade: TBD Reports to: CTO Revision Date: July 2025 JOB SUMMARY: The Senior System Administrator to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot our organization's IT infrastructure and systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our servers, networks, and end-user computing environments. The System Administrator will be responsible for daily operational tasks, system upgrades, security monitoring, and providing technical support to users. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be committed to delivering excellent service in a dynamic environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Perform routine system maintenance, including backups, patch management, performance monitoring, and log analysis for servers (Windows, Linux, etc.), virtual environments, and network devices.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to end-users for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and high user satisfaction.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure reliable connectivity and security.
  • Implement and enforce security policies, manage user access controls, monitor for security breaches, and respond to incidents to protect organizational data and systems. Hardware & Software Management: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and hardware components for servers, workstations, and other IT equipment.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, network diagrams, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure system resilience and data availability.
  • Identify opportunities for and implement automation of routine system administration tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for hardware/software procurement, support, and specialized services.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, providing recommendations for upgrades and scaling to meet future business demands.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in administering and troubleshooting Windows Server (including Active Directory, Group Policy) and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall configuration.
  • Experience with deploying and managing virtual machines and virtualized environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS) for infrastructure management is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and user support.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to evolving IT landscapes.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in system administration, managing diverse IT environments. Proven experience with server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux distributions).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and network security principles.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Windows 365).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, extreme temperature, and the like.
