We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors.Bargaining Unit:UUPJob Summary:The Office of Medical Education in the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Assistant/Assessment & Education Analyst. The successful candidate will:
  • Manage student assessments across the medial school curriculum.
  • Work with faculty to generate and administer various assessments for students.
  • Create and administer various surveys, used for assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and the maintenance of a student data base.
  • Compile and format multiple choice and essay questions for weekly formative exams. Post weekly formative exams in exam software.
  • Compile exams using secure National Board of Medical Examiners question bank.
  • Compile and format summative exams for each unit and gateway.
  • Compile and send formative, summative and remediation assessment repots to Unit Directors, Senior Associate Dean for Assessment and QI and Associate Dean of Clinical Competencies.
  • Respond to student inquires or concerns where appropriate.
  • Provide various student data for analysis and review.
  • Compile and prepare aggregate formative scores for mid-unit and end-of-unit meetings.
  • Compile and prepare aggregated formative scores for Bridges to Medicine Program.
  • Design and produce graphic displays of statistical information (charts, tables and graphs), using appropriate software programs.
  • Maintain the student database.
  • Complete ad hoc request for student data, statistical analysis, research projects, and studies; maintain project schedules and timelines; design strategies to complete projects; analyze and compare a variety of data solutions; make recommendations to the Senior Associate Dean for Assessment and CQI.
  • Provide administrative support to Academic Grades Meetings (Mid-Unit, End-of-Unit Grades, Gateway Grades, Academic Promotions Committee, and Academic Support Team, Formative Review) and follow up meetings. Prepare student files to be reviewed; record minutes and compile into a secured shared drive for future organizational reference.
  • Coordinate Academic Grade Meetings (Mid-Unit, End-of-Unit Grades, Academic Promotions Committee, Gateway Grades, Academic Support Team and Formative Review): manage Outlook calendar and send invites, coordinating with room scheduling, request A/V equipment, establish a quorum, set up of grade spreadsheet, distribution of materials and communication and attendance of committee/team members.
  • Support the creation, scheduling, administration and grading, remediation examinations.
  • Create, submit and monitor student grade changes.
  • Liaise with the logistics team and provide technical support to students using exam software.
  • Be on-site to support exam administration.
  • Train and provide technical support to OSCE facilitators using Qualtrics software and tablets. Monitor student uploads and downloads of assessments and ensure exam completion.
  • Assign and monitor faculty grading in exam software.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Qualtrics, Word, Excel, SAS/SPSS or equivalent statistical software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Access, Visual Basics software.
  • 3+ years of experience in a medical school or academic setting.
