Our commitment to development ensures you can Own Your Growth through learning opportunities, career advancement programs, and a collaborative culture that values innovation and teamwork.Position: Senior Scientist - Sample PreparationRestek is seeking a Senior Scientist with deep technical expertise in Sample Preparation technologies, including but not limited to SPE, dSPE, QuEChERS, SLE, and SPME. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our sample prep portfolio, leading innovative product development initiatives, and driving the creation of application-specific workflows that meet the evolving needs of diverse laboratories.This position requires hands-on experience developing and validating sample preparation methods for complex matrices such as food, environmental, and emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS, pesticides, drug residues). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and analytical workflows and be comfortable transitioning concepts from R&D through commercialization.Key Responsibilities:
  • Research & Development:
    • Lead and perform research on new and existing products, technologies, and processes.
    • Develop, prototype, and test new products/materials using current analytical methods and instrumentation.
    • Ensure product quality and quantity meet production demands.
    • Demonstrate experience with LC-MSMS (Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Document experimental steps, procedures, and results.
    • Write experience reports detailing experimental design, results, and conclusions.
    • Communicate progress through monthly reports and staff meetings.
    • Support the creation of new product instructions, specifications, and testing parameters.
  • Product Transfer & Support:
    • Support the transfer of new products to manufacturing.
    • Monitor product performance and validate processes, quality, documentation, and training.
  • Publications & Presentations:
    • Prepare articles and publishable data for marketing and technical services.
    • Conduct seminars, advanced technical presentations, and support training activities.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Learning:
    • Collaborate cross-functionally as a scientific expert.
    • Engage in continuous learning to stay current with industry advancements and enhance knowledge.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to safe working procedures and environmental health and safety guidelines.
    • Follow Restek's core values and practice safe handling of materials.
Qualifications:The standard expectation for the role is a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science along with 10 years of experience, but equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Industry experience that's directly relevant to the position may also be considered in place of the formal degree/experience requirement. A strong candidate will possess extensive experience with sample preparation and LC-MSMS as well as a proven track record in cross-functional collaboration.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of chemical safety, composition, structure, and properties.
