Role Overview: Senior Rail Transit Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Rail Transit Engineer to:

  • Lead transportation planning and engineering projects
  • Assist clients with project management activities related to design, funding, construction, and project control for transit projects
  • Develop work scopes, negotiate contracts, and supervise engineering design activities
  • Manage planning, engineering, and architectural activities for transit infrastructure, including bus rapid transit, transit centers, maintenance facilities, and more
  • Plan and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Coordinate with governmental and private agencies involved in transit projects
  • Participate in review meetings and coordinate interdisciplinary document reviews
  • Manage workload through design and construction phases to ensure timely and within-budget delivery
  • Coordinate professional staff and project development efforts
  • Monitor project financials and adjust team efforts accordingly
  • Attend client meetings and present design approaches for technical discussions
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Perform additional engineering tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 5 years in transit industry managing design and construction of capital projects, including bus rapid transit
  • Experience designing transit facilities such as stations, transit centers, and maintenance facilities
  • Experience working with state departments of transportation and federal transit administration
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years in railway engineering managing complex multidisciplinary projects
  • Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng)
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRail Designer/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil3D
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Leadership experience in railway projects
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
