Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Federal Energy Initiatives in Huntsville, AL to act as the primary contact between our office and the Owner; effectively managing projects from concept through design, bidding, negotiation, and construction administration to secure new projects with the same client. The candidate will leverage knowledge of the Federal market, including existing client relationships and the ability to establish new ones, to win new projects. Lead multi-discipline teams to provide asset management, facility/infrastructure assessments, technical and cost analysis, and strategic planning for Federal clients to develop energy and resiliency initiatives to meet Federal mandates. Apply innovative solutions in electrification and decarbonization as part of sustainability initiatives to reduce greenhouse gases. Work closely with clients to anticipate and resolve issues promptly. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality engineering documents that meet client needs, project specifications, and standards. Support clients in achieving their organizational goals and maintain long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain primary contact with the client.
  • Understand client needs and organizational goals.
  • Draft and track proposals for new projects with existing clients, leading to project awards and additional work.
  • Participate in regular design meetings and document minutes.
  • Lead, organize, and schedule design team staff.
  • Lead multi-discipline assessments to gather data for design, feasibility, energy, resiliency, and sustainability reports.
  • Prepare technical reports as needed.
  • Organize and lead in-house design meetings.
  • Develop detailed personnel and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with discipline managers for staffing and scheduling.
  • Maintain project timelines and documentation.
  • Ensure quality control and client satisfaction throughout project phases.
  • Provide on-site support during construction and commissioning.
  • Assist in recruiting and evaluating new employees for the MEP Federal practice.
  • Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; PE in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years project management experience, with at least 5 years in the federal market.
  • LEED AP and/or Certified Energy Manager preferred.
  • Knowledge of DoD or federal planning and programming.
  • Understanding of construction processes, FARS, and DFARS contracts.
  • Strong communication, organization, and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of systems, codes, standards, and client design standards.
