Lummus Technology provides a wide range of process technologies and related services to the petrochemical, petroleum refining and oil and gas and alternative / green energy industries. We are looking for an experienced cost estimator for our Houston, Texas office. This person will be responsible for preparation of Bid Estimates and conceptual Capital Cost Estimates (Capex) for licensed technology offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with the technology management, project management, engineering, and commercial teams to develop cost estimates for licensed technology offerings.
  • Develops conceptual Class 4 or Class 5 capital cost estimates for process plants using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator.
  • Participates in Client review meetings to communicate estimate basis and details with Client teams on economic optimizations, constructability, and risk & opportunity reviews.
  • Plans and works pro-actively with the other functional departments to identify priorities and expedites estimate input data to achieve the planned completion date and quality.
  • Combines inputs from functional departments into a total estimate.
  • Completes management review forms as well as executive bid summary cost templates.
  • Obtains early phase quotes for materials and services and assigns these costs within the estimate.
  • Accumulates, evaluates, and documents historical cost data and methods to maintain current estimating standards and databases.
  • Develops and presents relevant cost background information.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • 5-10 years' experience in cost estimating for industrial, commercial or EPC projects including: Budgetary/Conceptual total installed cost, equipment packages, detailed material supply, and basic engineering and design packages.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Construction Management or other technical or financial related degrees are preferred).
  • Skilled in working with engineering or project teams to leverage early process designs and simulations to develop capital cost estimates using parametric models, historical data, benchmarking, and industry indexes.
  • Experience utilizing tools such as Aspen Capital Cost Estimator desired.
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong written/verbal English communication skills, organization and planning skills, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, Aspen Capital Cost Estimating, Aspen Kbase, Aspen Icarus or similar cost estimating tool.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.
