About the Transportation Business Unit

At ms consultants, inc., we provide comprehensive transportation engineering services for projects of all sizes — from major interstate systems to local roads. Our services include roadway and intersection design, corridor improvements, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, and environmental documentation. Our team of engineers collaborates to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation solutions that benefit communities and improve infrastructure across the region.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you'll design complex interstate geometrics and local road projects. Depending on your experience, you may also lead a design team, with growth potential. Key responsibilities include:

• Roadway Design: Lead the design and plan preparation for highway and local road projects.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct internal quality reviews to ensure plans meet technical standards.
• Mentorship: Guide and support junior engineers' professional growth.
• Proposal Development: Assist in preparing and negotiating project proposals.
• Project Scheduling and Budgeting: Develop design schedules, prepare construction cost estimates, and deliver project submittals on time and within budget.
• Client Interaction: Maintain strong client relationships through presentations and communication.
• Scope and Change Management: Recognize scope changes and assist with contract negotiations.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to execute projects successfully.

What You'll Bring:

We seek an experienced engineer with technical expertise and leadership skills, including:

• Roadway Design Experience: Proficiency in designing interstate and local roads, with ODOT design experience preferred.
• Licensing: A PE license in Ohio or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and ODOT standards.
• Software Skills: Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD.
• Project Management: Experience managing projects, proposals, timelines, and budgets.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Ability to mentor teams and collaborate effectively.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Educational Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
