Job Description Summary

The Senior Project Design Manager leads a team of design professionals. They oversee the entire design process from concept to completion, requiring expertise in architectural design principles, Revit software, project management methodologies, and team leadership. They are responsible for ensuring the quality of design deliverables, fostering innovation, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting the professional growth of the team. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet business objectives and exceed client expectations.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the design team, providing guidance and support on projects.
  • Collaborate directly with clients.
  • Foster a creative and collaborative environment within the team.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, standards, and resources.
  • Ensure documentation and communication of processes and standards.
  • Create and manage Revit templates and assets.
  • Maintain knowledge of DiRoots and other design software.
  • Stay updated on new software to optimize workflows.
  • Educate team on best practices in design software.
  • Manage client design standards and recommend improvements.
  • Review test fits and suggest workplace improvements.
  • Review and approve preliminary space plans and design concepts, ensuring safety, functionality, aesthetics, and code compliance.
  • Provide ongoing training related to design and project management.
  • Communicate design concepts effectively to stakeholders.
  • Manage materials for renderings using Revit and Enscape or similar software.
  • Stay current with design trends and technologies.
  • Explore and implement innovative design solutions.
  • Encourage experimentation and creativity within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional design experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing and mentoring a design team.
  • Minimum 7 years of Revit experience in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in architectural drawings, concepts, and design.
  • Knowledge of IBC and ADA standards for code compliance.
  • Experience managing projects of various scopes and complexities.
  • Experience with budgeting, vendor relationships, and procurement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ownership and accountability in project requests.
  • Attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • On-site presence five days a week.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
