Senior Accountant – Project Accounting and SupportCompensation: 105k

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant – Project Accounting and Support to join our team and help drive financial clarity and operational efficiency across our job-based renovation and service operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and improve project accounting processes to ensure accuracy and visibility

  • Support project managers with tracking project documentation, deadlines, compliance, and change orders

  • Set up new jobs in the accounting system, including budgets, contracts, and codes

  • Maintain current and accurate records of job activity, including billing schedules and inventory tracking

  • Oversee subcontractor compliance, including certificates of insurance

  • Manage job cost accounting and ensure accurate project-level financial reporting

  • Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition in line with GAAP

  • Monitor budget vs. actual performance in collaboration with project managers

  • Prepare project billings, including AIA invoices, progress payments, and retention

  • Ensure timely and accurate project closeouts and reconciliations

  • Support monthly close activities with journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis

  • Assist with internal and external audit support

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and contract requirements

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ in project/job-based accounting

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and revenue recognition

  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • CPA or similar certification

  • Experience in construction, contracting, or service-based project environments

  • Familiarity with AIA billing, WIP schedules, and project tools

  • Understanding of subcontractor compliance and COIs

  • Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, Servman, Service Pro, or Buildertrend
