JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Sr. Program Director - RHCC
Reports to: Vice President of Education & Vocation Programs
Location: 71 Sullivan St. Brooklyn NY 11231
Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 / year
Overview: The Sr. Program Director is responsible for overall program development, supervision and implementation of the Red Hook Community Center (RHCC). The RHCC is open Monday – Saturday and is a year-round center providing after school, evening and adult programming for the community.
Major Duties:
- Overall leadership and responsibility for the afterschool, evening and weekend program, including development and implementation of all appropriate policies and procedures.
- Direct supervision of Assistant Program Directors and Evening/Weekend Program along with other staff and volunteers.
- In conjunction with Vice President, responsible for the direct hiring, staff development and training of staff.
- In conjunction with Vice President, maintain strong partnerships with community co-locators and other organizations and entities that utilize the Community Center.
- Responsible for creation of schedule for components of program.
- Conduct staff development for Group Leaders, Assistant Group Leaders, Activity Instructors and youth interns.
- In conjunction with Vice President, monitor budget, managing all expenditures related to program.
- Responsible for the completion of all program statistics and reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure appropriate utilization of internal and external databases.
- Responsible for implementation of Council on Accreditation (COA) guidelines.
- Ensure public contract and private foundation requirements are met.
- Participate in development of grant proposals and site visits.
- Ensure DOHMH licensing requirements are met for regular site activities and annual summer camp.
- Participate in meetings with Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Department of Education (DOE), and other appropriate city and state agencies as needed.
- Oversee implementation of all internal and external evaluations, surveys, etc.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments (HR, Fiscal, Contracts, Development).
- Represent agency on relevant external committees and work groups.
- Oversee client referrals to other programs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or DYCD Program Director waiver required.
- 5 years of related experience required.
- 3 years of administrative supervisory experience required.
- Must have the ability to work Saturdays and evenings.
- Must be able to engage in crisis-intervention activities and demonstrate, lead and teach a range of group activities.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
- Must be able to pass DOHMH clearances and background checks.
