Job Description & Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer who will be responsible for leading research and development of new products, improving existing products, and developing overall systems solutions. This role will play a critical part in developing Wave Relay product solutions for our DOD customers. The Senior Product Design Engineer will identify customer needs through face-to-face interactions and contribute significantly to product development. The role is based at our New York City headquarters and involves managing projects with both on-site and remote teams.
Position Responsibilities
- Managing, deriving, and capturing product/program requirements, including mechanical and electrical interface design specifications, component requirements, and functional block diagrams.
- Supporting software and hardware testing.
- Supporting and facilitating engineering projects such as new product/solution development, product modifications, and customer integration.
- Leading engineering projects, including new product/solution development, product changes, and customer integration.
- Supporting change management processes to ensure completion of required actions and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ensuring quality documentation is updated or created, including technical manuals.
- Providing support and delivering solutions for rapid development projects.
- Modifying and updating requirements documents.
- Coordinating the preparation of design drawings and updates.
- Supporting and facilitating project scheduling.
Job Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience as a Product Designer demonstrating strong design thinking in interaction and experience design.
- At least 5 years of systems engineering and networking experience.
- Defense project management experience, including direct customer interaction for networking architecture and product integration solutions.
- Proven understanding of the end-to-end design process, including research, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Experience with complex systems development, evaluation, and requirements capture.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical interface requirements.
- Experience in risk analysis and progress reporting.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance or currently hold one.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of systems engineering and networking experience.
- Experience with Embedded Linux.
- Knowledge of audio/video encoders/decoders and interfaces.
- Experience with electromagnetic capability (EMC) testing and design.
- Knowledge of military certification and qualification testing.
- Experience with enclosure and packaging design for hardware.
The annual base pay ranges from $165,000 to $210,000, depending on qualifications, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
