Flint Hills Resources in Corpus Christi, Texas, is looking for a Senior Process Engineer (Fluidized Catalytic Cracking - FCC unit). The Senior Process Engineer is a key member of the site Process Engineering Department and a critical support member of Business Teams. The process engineering team is dedicated to being the technical leaders that drive the highest value solutions for our partners. You will join a community of 30+ chemical engineers focused on troubleshooting, optimization, and design improvements of refinery units.

What You Will Do
  • Build and expand your technical network internally and externally
  • Develop value-creation ideas and perform economic analysis for units and technologies
  • Monitor long-term unit performance against industry benchmarks
  • Support building a unit monitoring toolkit for Crude Oil Refining technologies
  • Audit performance reports and calculations
  • Review benchmark studies (Solomon, PTAI)
  • Ensure projects meet business objectives
  • Mentor and support Production Engineers during troubleshooting and reviews
  • Support high-profile troubleshooting as needed
  • Design experiments and process guidelines with Operations
  • Own modeling programs and build technology loop models using software like HYSYS
  • Support other physics-based modeling programs
  • Provide technical support for turnaround programs and scope projects
  • Contribute to process safety and environmental performance through PHA, MOC, and investigations
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of refining or chemical plant process engineering experience
  • Previous experience with FCC units
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 15+ years of refinery experience
  • 5+ years of process engineering experience with FCC units
  • Experience as a Process or Project Engineer leading refinery projects
  • Experience with Aspen HYSYS modeling
  • Leading cross-functional teams

This role requires obtaining a TWIC badge for access to the facility.
