We are currently seeking a Senior NPD (New Product Development) Engineer to join our cross-functional team and lead the development of next-generation products from concept through launch. The Senior NPD Engineer will play a critical role in managing and executing complex product development projects. This individual will work closely with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and quality teams to bring innovative products to market on time, on budget, and to specification. Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design for commercial appliances requiring integrated recirculating ventilation and fire suppression accommodation (e.g., under-hood cooking equipment, custom appliance layouts).
  • Drive manufacturing input into NPD projects to enhance design effectiveness and reliability through methodologies such as Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), design reviews, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Use experience with fire suppression systems to design recirculating ventilation to meet NFPA 96 requirements, UL710B and NSF/ANSI 2.
  • Use CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), thermal modeling, and airflow simulations to predict performance and optimize designs prior to physical prototyping.
  • Create prototype screening strategies to efficiently validate airflow, heat, and suppression system clearance requirements.
  • Document product designs by preparing bills of material, drawings, and product change notifications.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks generating drawings and models.
  • Build product cost models in collaboration with the Operations teams to actively manage product costs throughout the development phase and ensure that launch targets are met.
  • Provide technical support for Make versus Buy analysis, develop project execution timelines, and ensure that quality and performance levels are achieved for new product launches.
Requirements
  • 4-year degree in related field or 15 years of experience in an Engineering role
  • 10 years of experience in related field
  • Experience with 3D modeling/drawings, SolidWorks
  • Released two or more product families
  • In-depth knowledge of Commercial Cooking appliance design and applications; intimate familiarity with the systems component design, integration, and interactions
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic control systems and wiring harnesses
  • Hands-on skills and experience in working with laboratory equipment, test stands and instrumentation
  • Fundamental understanding of Engineering principles
  • Self-starter and hands-on approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Sheetmetal design experience
Working conditions This position will be based in an office setting, but at times will require a hands-on approach. Occasional prototyping and testing will result in the operation of tools in the manufacturing environment. Physical requirements Will be required to lift 30lbs occasionally, as manufacturing is supported.
