Position Overview

  • Role: Outpatient Audit Coding Specialist
  • Location Eligibility: Only candidates from OK, TX, AR, MO, and KS will be considered
  • Shift: Day Shift (8.5 hours/day including 30-minute lunch)
  • Schedule:
  • Training: Between 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST
  • Post-training: Flexible between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
  • Weekend work: Possible, with weekdays off
  • Contract Length: 26 weeks
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
  • Remote Setup:
  • Agency must provide Windows 11 computer, dual monitors, and webcam
  • Candidate must have stable internet for multiple applications

Responsibilities

  • Perform internal quality assessments on OUH coders
  • Ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and OUH policies
  • Lead and coordinate routine, pre-bill, and policy-driven reviews
  • Provide education and training to coding staff
  • Assist with root cause analysis and coding quality action plans
  • Develop and deliver coding education programs
  • Maintain 95%+ productivity and accuracy standards
  • Support curriculum development and coding integrity initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and team meetings

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Coding Expertise:
  • ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT-4, Modifiers
  • MS-DRGs, POA, APR-DRGs, APCs
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Data analysis and presentation
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, adaptability, decision-making
  • Team collaboration and customer orientation

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's in HIM/HIT preferred
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years acute care inpatient/outpatient coding
  • 3+ years coding auditing/monitoring preferred
  • Certifications (Required):
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC

Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
