As a Senior Mechanical Engineer , you will be responsible for the mechanical packaging design, development and qualification of new solid-state components and systems. The candidate must be self-motivated and comfortable navigating uncertainties and customer driven design requirements. The role requires an understanding of the protection legacy that Littelfuse has established and the ability to collaborate across the business to draw upon that strength. About the Job:Develop and qualify mechanical package designs for solid-state control and protection components and systems. Establish design details, including stress and tolerance analysis, 3D models and drawings.
Collaborate with peers in evaluating technical feasibility and selecting suitable suppliers for components and processes.
Develop DFMEA for safety-critical components and systems.
Engage with contract manufacturers or in-house manufacturing to implement design, prepare design documentation, and evaluate production processes to assure components meet performance, reliability and cost targets.
Define multi-physics simulations (thermal, electrical, mechanical, …) and interpret results, to anticipate lifetime performance.
Support occasional travel as required to evaluate suppliers and support production ramp up.
Develop and execute protection system component and system qualification and reliability test plans.
Provide regular project updates as part of the overall project planning and execution.
About you:
MS in Mechanical Engineering or BS in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience.
7+ years of hands-on experience designing complex electromechanical assemblies with a focus on thermal management and design for manufacturing.
Working knowledge of plastics, material properties, process and tooling considerations.
Experience with rapid prototyping processes (3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting).
Experience with thermal simulation tools
Knowledge of product compliance process, including testing and designing for EMC and product safety approvals.
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, willingness to experiment and be able to manage ambiguity.
