Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems for custom automation equipment, including robotic cells, assembly machines, and test equipment.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, ensuring proper GD&T and tolerances.
- Collaborate with controls, electrical, and software engineers to integrate Fanuc robotic systems seamlessly.
- Integrate pneumatic systems, specifying and optimizing pneumatic actuators and controls.
- Perform FEA, design reviews, and risk assessments to validate system performance and reliability.
- Specify and source critical components such as actuators, bearings, and linear guides.
- Support machine assembly, debug, and troubleshooting during prototyping and production startup.
- Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and manuals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO, ANSI, and OSHA requirements.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in machine design, automation, or robotics.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotic systems and SMC pneumatics.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, kinematics, pneumatics, and materials.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Knowledge of vision systems and bin-picking applications.
- Experience designing test and validation equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as ANSI/RIA, CE, and ISO.
- Project management or customer-facing experience.
