Job Overview

Our client are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in New York. The ideal candidate will lead the design and implementation of complex mechanical systems, ensuring high performance, energy efficiency, and client satisfaction. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for sustainable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC systems for a variety of building projects, including commercial, healthcare, and high-rise residential.
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, TRACE 700).
• Oversee project delivery from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems into overall building designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify system performance and resolve design or construction issues.
• Drive innovation by incorporating energy-efficient and sustainable design practices.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering
• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred (requirement that you want to obtain a PE license)
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and energy modeling software (e.g., TRACE 700, EnergyPro).
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IBC, and local building codes.
• Experience with sustainable design practices (LEED, WELL, or similar certifications a plus).
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
• Proven leadership and project management abilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: Experience with high-performance building systems, such as chilled beams, VRF systems, or geothermal HVAC.
