This senior level role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complete automation and mechanical systems that enhance manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer with deep experience in both mechanical design and automation controls, capable of delivering solutions from concept through commissioning. This position directly supports strategic initiatives led by the Industrial Engineering team, including tooling development, process automation, cost reduction, and new product integration. Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of automation systems combining mechanical and control systems (PLC, HMI, motion control).
  • Develop mechanical solutions for automated equipment such as fixtures, robotic cells, conveyors, and special machines.
  • Collaborate with the Industrial Engineering Supervisor and cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative technologies and process improvements.
  • Support capital project evaluations by analyzing technical feasibility, return on investment (ROI), and vendor proposals for new automation and equipment.
  • Ensure automation systems meet safety, quality, and reliability requirements while aligning with production goals.
  • Manage project execution from concept through installation, including planning, budgeting, design, testing, and hand-off to production teams.
  • Participate in technical meetings related to new product launches, equipment specification, and strategic automation decisions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure robust system performance, preventive strategies, and mechanical serviceability.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation/Industrial Engineering or related field. • 7+ years of hands-on experience in automation and mechanical systems within a manufacturing environment. • Proficiency in mechanical design tools (SolidWorks or similar CAD software). • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems. • Experience integrating robotics, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and vision systems into production lines. • Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders. • Understanding of safety standards (OSHA, etc...) and best practices in automation and machine design. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.
